Unlike most blogs about family and daily life - I somehow have pictures that make things seem worse than they really were - like food photography in the old days.
An amazing week in Mt. Tremblant - at Blueberry Lake - we had friends and family come to stay, hung out in the hot tub, yoga on the deck (for me), lots of swimming (indoor pool) for the boys, a failed bonfire, long walks, lots of berries and the feeling in the best way that we were gone for more than a week.
On my 35th birthday I decided to commit to this one year experiment: a blog where I try to capture all the little things that actually make up my life and but that get lost and forgotten in all my anxiety about what's next, what’s not done and what I should be doing...lets see how and where it goes...

Friday June 21: Pure Life Energy
In yoga, there's a strong focus on the life energy - releasing it, harnessing it and getting back in touch with it.
Watching Mr. Biddles play - is a reminder that babies are pure joy and pure unadulterated life energy.
Incredibele!

The Kids Weekend: Party In The Park
That Saturday boy 1& boy 2 went on the subway to take-won-do, then we went to Indigo to buy a birthday present, then we went to grocery store to buy lunch, then I went to library with boy 2, then we went to buy groceries for the week, then we walked to the birthday party in the park where the boys played for three hours and got soaking wet. Then we walked home (in the rain) for hot baths and a second round of dinner. Then boys 2&3 went to sleep while boy 1 waited up for Daddy. I should add that I did 40 minutes cardio before all this. But when my stomach isn't bothering me, I actually love the feeling on non stop activity, just for sensation of collapsing into a hot bath and bed.

June 2: 4 Years
The thing about parenting is that it's just all cliches.
Today's example - how different Avery and Seth (and soon Biddle) are.
Avery at 4: has a total sense of his own style (backwards shorts, spiderman boots, a bowtie and t-shirt are a daily outfit); loves cooking, used to love Barney, is always trying to keep up with the big kids on our street, will do just about anything for a popsicle or chocolate egg, loves cooking, pretending to be Harry Potter, is into painting.
I worry about him being a bit too classic middle child - caught between wanting to keep up with older brother and wanting the attention of the baby.
But Avery is a genuine original. Unconcerned about what other people, teachers and kids think, he does is thing.

May 30th: Birthdays
May is a month of birthdays for us. And of course I never take pictures of anything. Seth kicked it off with cake pops for breakfast, steak for dinner and 12 friends at a trampoline place. Lots of Lego was the theme of the day.
Then me. I was sick and writing my book - but we still got a night out together - a nap, a movie and a quiet house was how I rocked in my 37th year.
Then it was Avery - who seemed neutral on the birthday front. But we had a Kung Fu cake (which actually looked cool but I didn't take a picture) and had lurid and vaguely frightening bright icing. There were balloons and the nice thing about our street is that's its an instant party.
In between that, lots of other kids parties as well - Fort York, making pizza and so on.

Random life
Monday, 11 February 2013
Monday February 11th:
Mondays mornings always feel like a struggle and a slow start. So much didn't get done over the weekend. So much to do during the week.
So before anything even starts, a bit of Biddles to kick it off:

January 24th: R's Birthday
In which we had two nights (two!) without any of the kids. And so we impersonated the lives of "hipsters in the city" or at least what we think those without kids might do....
This involved: a movie, evening drinks, browsing Indigo, early morning yoga, brunch and the paper, a walk to Kensington Market, amazing tacos, browsing Holts, Starbucks, an attempt to see a play, replaced by impromptu massages and take out Korean.
Actually, just writing out that list makes me think that really only parents of three would cram so much activity into a 36 hour period.

Monday January 7:
It's an ugh kind of day. Not helped by the back to school routine on a cold January morning.
Fighting it with the bobble baby.
